Real Madrid the Favourites to Beat Local-Rivals Getafe

Real Madrid claimed a 2-1 away win against Huesca at the weekend but remain 3rd in the La Liga table behind Barcelona and Atletico. Getafe were well beaten on Saturday away at Sevilla 3-0 and are now without a win in their last three league games.

Real Madrid boast an excellent record against their local-rivals Getafe, winning 22 of the duo’s last 30 encounters in all competitions.

Real secured a 1-0 win when the pair last locked horns in July and haven’t conceded a single goal against Getafe in any of the pair’s last four meetings.

Neither of these teams can claim to be in good form right now, with both clubs winning two, drawing one and losing three of their last six matches. However, Real sit 10 positions and 19pts clear of Getafe in the La Liga table and have the home advantage on Tuesday night.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Real Madrid’s last five outings in all competitions, while three of Getafe’s last five fixtures have also seen at least three goals scored. The visitors have failed to score in their last two outings in La Liga and have conceded three or more goals in two of their last three games.

The hosts will be without the suspended Eder Militao for the visit of Getafe, while Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, Lucas Vazquez, Federico Valverde, Daniel Carvajal and Rodrygo all look set to miss the game through injury. The visitors have Mauro Arambarri suspended and could be without the injured Dario Poveda for what is expected to be a tough derby match.

Madrid top scorer Benzema has netted 10 league goals so far this season, that’s twice as many as Getafe’s leading scorer Angel. The home side certainly have more goals in them and will be confident about their chances of keeping a clean sheet against a Getafe attack that has struggled in recent weeks.

Real Madrid are a good bet to win on Tuesday night and all the stats point towards over 2.5 goals being scored.

The hosts might not have kept many clean sheets in recent weeks but against Getafe, the Real Madrid defence are expected to come out on top.
