Atletico Madrid’s seemingly unstoppable charge towards the La Liga title looks set to continue on Monday, with off-form Celta Vigo visiting Wanda Metropolitano.
Eight straight victories mean that Atletico find themselves ten points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over the chasing pack.
Meanwhile, a five-game winless run has seen Celta Vigo slip to tenth in the standings – 25 points behind Atletico Madrid.
Remarkably, Atletico have only lost one of their 19 league games this term, picking up 16 wins and two draws along the way.
Not only are Diego Simeone’s men the second-highest scorers in the division (40), but they also boast the best defensive record by a considerable margin (10).
With a ten-point lead at the La Liga summit and a goal difference of +30, it is difficult to imagine Atletico missing out on the title this year.
It is also worth pointing out that Atletico have only lost one of their last 36 home games in all competitions.
Better still, Simeone’s side have not been trailing at half-time in any of their previous 34 home games in all competitions, making the HT/FT bet an attractive option.
On the flip side, Celta Vigo have only managed to win three of their last 24 away games in all competitions.
Celta started the season in promising fashion and even enjoyed a six-game unbeaten streak (5 wins, 1 draw) across November and December.
However, they have since failed to win any of their previous five La Liga outings, recording three defeats and two draws in that time.
When you considered those statistics, it goes without saying that Celta Vigo will struggle to get anything from Monday’s trip to Madrid.
Head-to-head: Atletico Madrid beat Celta Vigo 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in October, extending their unbeaten run in this fixture to four games.
In their previous with meeting with Celta, it is also worth noting that Atletico have kept three clean sheets.
Team news: Atletico quartet Yannick Carrasco, Mario Hermoso, Joao Felix and Moussa Dembele could all miss Monday’s match with coronavirus, while Kiren Trippier is suspended.
As for Celta Vigo, goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez and left-back David Junca will both miss the trip to Madrid through injury.
Given the contrasting form of these two sides, anything other than a home win would be a massive shock on Monday.
Forebet predicts that Atletico Madrid will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Celta Vigo.
