Following a six-match slump which saw Real Sociedad fail to pick up a win in La Liga, Sunday’s hosts registered a welcome 1-0 win away from home at Athletic Bilbao to get them back on track and they’ll no doubt be seeking back-to-back wins when lowly Osasuna visit their Reale Arena in this clash.
Having suffered three defeats on the trot to Barcelona, Levante and Atletico Madrid (the former two both being away from home), it’ll be a relief for Real Sociedad to return to the more familiar surroundings of their Reale Arena here where they’ll be seeking all three points.
Three wins, three draws and two defeats at home have helped maintain Real Sociedad’s push for a possible top four finish in this season’s La Liga campaign, and includes victories against Getafe, Huesca and Granada, while the hosts have won six out of the previous seven meetings at home against their Sunday’s visitors, Osasuna.
Osasuna sit second from bottom and in the relegation zone of the Spanish top flight prior to this tough looking trip to Real Sociedad on Sunday, especially as the visitors have failed to win any of their last nine matches overall in La Liga.
This worrying spell of results have dumped Osasuna in the bottom three and although they’re still only two points behind fourth from bottom outfit, Valencia, and safety, they’re without an away win from their last six matches on their travels, losing four of these six.
Defeats away at Getafe, Sevilla, Barcelona and Real Valladolid have contributed to Osasuna’s poor season.
The visitors have also failed to score in four of their last six away matches as well, so this doesn’t bode well for this upcoming clash against Real Sociedad.
In addition, Osasuna have managed to pick up just six away wins out of their last 25 matches on their travels in the Spanish top flight and as mentioned earlier, the visitors also possess a poor record on the road at the Reale Arena and this trend looks set to continue in favour of Real Sociedad for this encounter as well.
Real Sociedad’s win against Athletic Bilbao last time out was a welcome morale-booster for the hosts and they should continue their dominance over Osasuna here.
