RB Leipzig to Claim First Win of 2021 at Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig - 02/01/2021

RB Leipzig to Claim First Win of 2021 at Stuttgart
2905

Both of these teams progressed through to the next round of the DFB Pokal last time out, but in their last league games it proved a different story. Stuttgart went down 1-0 away at high-flying Wolfsburg, while RB Leipzig were held to a goalless draw at home by Cologne.

Stuttgart sit 7th in the table, not bad for a newly promoted club, while RB Leipzig are just 2pts off the top spot in 3rd.

Stuttgart haven’t faired well against RB Leipzig in recent years, losing three and drawing one of the pair’s four encounters since 2017.

The last time the two teams locked horns both sides scored and over 2.5 goals were produced, with RB Leipzig claiming a 3-1 win at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Heading into Saturday’s clash, Stuttgart’s form hasn’t been too bad, with the home side securing three wins, one draw and suffering two defeats in their last six matches. However, the hosts are without a win at home in the Bundesliga this season, with the club performing much better on the road.

The hosts have been involved in a number of high-scoring games of late, with four of their last five outings in the Bundesliga producing over 2.5 goals.

Each of those games have also ended with both teams scoring and Stuttgart have only failed to score in one of their last six matches in all competitions.

RB Leipzig head into this one as the form favourites with four wins and two draws from their last six matches in all competitions.

Three of the visitor’s last six fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals and on each of those occasions, Leipzig have scored exactly 3-goals. RB Leipzig have only lost once away from home in the league this season, 1-0 against Gladbach in late October.

The home side have some injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash. Egloff, Didavi, Mavropanos and Thommy are all expected to miss the game, but Al Ghaddioui could make his return following a groin strain.

Nkunku, Konate, Henrichs, Hwang, Laimer and Hartmann are all either ruled out or rated as doubtful to make the trip to Stuttgart for the visitors, but Kluivert could face a late fitness test.

Everything points towards there being goals in this game, so a bet on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks sensible.

In terms of an end result, RB Leipzig should win this one as they have a good record on the road and their guests have really struggled in their own backyard.
