Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome West Midlands rivals Aston Villa to Molineux for the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday.

Wolves currently find themselves tenth in the table, with Aston Villa two points and two places below Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. However, the Villains do have two games in hand.

Following a heavy 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool last weekend, Wolves come into this match heaving won just one of their previous four outings.

The Wanderers beat Arsenal a fortnight ago, although a defeat to Leicester and a draw with Southampton have prevented the club from moving up the table.

However, it is worth pointing out that Wolves are on an eye-catching run at home, losing just one of their last seven Premier League games at Molineux.

They have also kept eight clean sheets in their previous 12 league matches on home soil, with only two goalkeepers achieving more shutouts than Rui Patricio this term.

Having said that, Wolves have struggled at the other end of the pitch recently. In fact, only four teams in the division have scored fewer goals than Nuno’s men this season.

Wolves may be doing well at home, but it is important to remember that Aston Villa have been impressive on their travels of late.

Dean Smith’s side have lost just one of their last eight away games in all competitions, winning by over 1.5 goals in four of their previous six.

Last weekend’s match against Newcastle was called off due to coronavirus fears, meaning Villa have slipped into the bottom half of the table for the first time this season.

Villa started the campaign with four straight victories, although they have lost four of their subsequent five games.

Head-to-head: Wolves did the double over Villa last term, winning 2-1 at home before securing a 1-0 victory at Villa Park.

Wolves have only lost two of their last 13 meetings against Villa in all competitions, picking up seven wins and four draws in the process.

Team news: Of course, Wolves will be without Raul Jimenez this weekend. Jonny is also a doubt for Nuno’s side.

Ross Barkley, Tom Heaton and Wesley are all unavailable for Villa, although Bjorn Engles, Frederic Guilbert and Kourtney Hause could feature.

Wolves head into this clash in better form than Villa, while the Wanderers’ recent record in this fixture is difficult to ignore.

Forebet predicts that this game will produce over 2.5 goals. However, Wolves are expected to edge Villa on Saturday.
