Spurs favourites to snatch North London bragging rights from Arsenal
7009

The latest edition of the North London Derby takes place on Sunday as high-flying Tottenham Hotspur host struggling Arsenal.

Spurs head into Matchday 11 joint-top of the Premier League table, while Arsenal are eight points behind in 14th place.

Tottenham head into this clash on the back of an exciting 3-3 draw with LASK in the Europa League on Thursday.

Gareth Bale, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli all got on the scoresheet, but a stoppage-time equaliser prevented Jose Mourinho’s side from coming away from Austria with all three points.

However, back home, Spurs have only lost one of their opening ten Premier League matches this term, and that was on the opening day of the season.

Since then, six wins and three draws have enabled Tottenham to keep pace with the early frontrunners in the title race.

Looking at the bigger picture, Spurs have only lost two of their last 25 matches in all competitions, winning five of their previous seven.

It’s safe to say that the gulf between these two rivals is bigger now than it has been for a number of years.

In the red half of North London, Arsenal have won just five of their ten Premier League games this season.

The Gunners already find themselves eight points off top spot and only seven points clear of the relegation zone.

It is no secret that scoring goals has been Arsenal’s biggest problem this term. In fact, only three teams in the division have netted fewer goals than Mikel Arteta’s men, and they are all in the bottom three.

The Gunners have failed to score in four of their last six league outings, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang managing just two league goals all season.

Still, a morale-boosting 4-1 victory over Rapid Vienna in midweek will have lifted the spirits at the club somewhat.

Head-to-head: Tottenham have claimed the North London bragging rights in recent games, going unbeaten in their previous four meetings with Arsenal (two wins, two draws).

The last time these two rivals met, Tottenham secured a 2-1 home victory back in July, with Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld canceling out Alexandre Lacazette’s opener.

Team news: Unfortunately, Alderweireld is a doubt for Sunday’s clash. Harry Kane and Sergio Reguilon will be assessed before the weekend, while Erik Lamela is likely to miss out for Spurs.

As for Arsenal, Nicolas Pepe is suspended. David Luiz and Thomas Partey could return, although Gabriel Martinelli is still sidelined through injury.

When you couple Tottenham’s recent record in this fixture with the contrasting current form of the two sides, all the signs point towards a home win on Sunday.

Forebest predicts that Spurs will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean on their way to beating Arsenal.
