On Saturday evening, Monchengladbach host crisis club Schalke at Borussia Park in the Bundesliga, as the Foals look to kick-start their league campaign.
Monchengladbach have made an inconsistent start to their Bundesliga campaign, as they sit seventh place in the Bundesliga table, having picked up just 12 points from their eight games so far.
The Foals may have endured mixed fortunes this season, but Marco Rose’s team heads into this clash on the back of a massive 4-0 home win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
The win followed the Foals picking up just one point from their previous two league games against Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg. The result against Augsburg was particularly disappointing, as Gladbach missed several good opportunities to win the game.
Gladbach are unbeaten in seven home matches in the German top-flight. However, three of their last four league outings at Borussia Park have ended all-square.
Their recent home matches in the Bundesliga have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last four games. However, both teams have scored in four of their last five home games in the league.
Schalke are in crisis. The Royal Blues are not only bottom of the table, but reportedly there was a dressing room bust-up earlier this week that led to the suspension of Amine Harit and Nabil Bentaleb from training and the cancellation of forward Vedad Ibisevic’s contract. The 36-year-old will leave at the end of the year.
The visitors head into this game bottom of the table and without a Bundesliga victory in 24 games. Last time out, Manuel Baum’s side suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Wolfsburg.
Unsurprisingly, considering their recent form, Schalke have failed to win in 15 away games in the Bundesliga.
Forebet predicts that Monchengladbach will pile more misery on Schalke by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
