Crystal Palace likely to extend Burnley’s winless run

Burnley will be desperate to end their winless start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign when Crystal Palace visit Turf Moor on Monday.

Sean Dyche’s side are second from bottom in the table, with two draws and five defeats to their name this term.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are 11 points ahead of Burnley in eighth place, having picked up four wins, one draw, and three defeats so far.

Burnley started the season with three straight defeats, before a goalless draw with West Brom temporarily stopped the rot.

However, the Clarets then suffered back-to-back losses against Tottenham and Chelsea, with a goalless draw against Brighton coming just before the international break.

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that Burnley are the lowest scorers in the Premier League this season.

Dyche’s men have only managed to net three goals this term, with two of those goals coming in a 4-2 defeat to Leicester on the opening day.

It is also worth pointing out that Burnley have failed to score in each of their previous five home matches in all competitions. Needless to say, the Clarets are in trouble.

On the flip side, Crystal Palace have enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign. Indeed, Roy Hodgson’s side only sit five points behind frontrunners Leicester.

The Eagles began with successive victories over Southampton and Manchester United, before going three games without a win.

But Hodgson’s men have since won two of their last three games, seeing off Fulham and most recently Leeds United.

Palace have not been known for scoring goals under Hodgson, but the team have already netted 12 times this season.

Unsurprisingly, Wilfried Zaha has been the star of the show, contributing five goals and two assists already.

Head-to-head: It’s safe to say that Palace have enjoyed facing Burnley in recent years. In fact, the Eagles have only suffered one defeat in their last five meetings with the Clarets.

Burnley edged the Eagles 1-0 in the previous encounter, bet Hodgson’s side had claimed four straight wins in this fixture prior to that.

Team news: Burnley will be without injured players Jack Cork and Dale Stephens on Monday, while Robbie Brady and Johann Berg Gudmundsson face late fitness tests.

Crystal Palace could be without as many as eight first-team players, with Connor Wickham, Wayne Hennessey and Nathan Ferguson definitely ruled out.

Given the contrasting form of these two sides, Crystal Palace are expected to extend Burnley’s winless run on Monday.

Forebet predicts that Crystal Palace will keep a clean sheet on their way to victory at Turf Moor.
