Verona have made a decent start to the new season as they sit in 8th place heading into this weekend’s matches. Before the international break Verona secured a point away at the unbeaten lead leaders AC Milan, but probably should have won the game.
Verona found themselves 2-1 up heading into stoppage time thanks to a goal from Barak and one into the back of his own net from Calabria. However, that man Ibrahimovic pooped up deep into stoppage time to score AC Milan’s equaliser.
Both teams have now scored in each of Verona’s last four matches in all competitions, with over 2.5 goals being scored in their last three outings.
Sunday’s hosts have recorded a win against Sassuolo in the pair’s last three encounters. Sassuolo have won two of those games and the other, the most recent, ended in a 3-3 draw.
Verona haven’t lost at home in league or cup so far this season, securing three wins and two draws. Verona’s last two home games have seen over 2.5 goals scored and both teams’ score.
Visiting Sassuolo have a 100% record on the road this season, winning in the league against Napoli, Bologna, and Spezia and two of those games produced over 2.5 goals and saw both teams score.
Four of Sassuolo’s last six matches have ended with both teams scoring and have produced over 2.5 goals. A win for the visitors this weekend could be enough to take them to the top of the table.
As things stand, Sassuolo sit 3pts and six position above Verona in second place and are just 2pts behind the league leaders AC Milan.
