Bosnia and Herzegovina welcome the Netherlands to Bilino Polje on Sunday as the two sides clash in UEFA Nations League Group A1.
Bosnia are bottom of the group having picked up one point from their opening two games, while the Netherlands are third with three points.
Bosnia secured an impressive 1-1 draw with Italy on Matchday 1. Despite seeing just 38% possession, Edin Dzeko earned his country a precious point.
However, Bosnia weren’t so lucky on Matchday 2. Haris Hajradinovic gave his side the lead, but Poland came from behind to win 2-1.
Bosnia’s previous game also ended in disappointment. They drew 1-1 with Northern Ireland on Thursday but were eventually knocked out of the Euro qualifiers on penalties.
Dusan Bajevic’s men enjoyed 60% possession and racked up a whopping 20 shots last time out, but they were unable to get the job done.
The Netherlands’ Nations League campaign began with a 1-0 victory over Poland, with Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn grabbing the goal.
But the Oranje were beaten 1-0 by Italy in their next game, leaving them one point behind the Italians at the top of the group.
Frank de Boer’s side played a friendly against Mexico on Wednesday, but a Raul Jimenez penalty saw the Netherlands lose 1-0 to the Mexicans.
Interestingly, each of the Netherlands’ previous three games have ended 1-0, and they have only ended up on the winning side once.
Head-to-head: This will be the first meeting between Bosnia and the Netherlands, so there are no previous results to assess for this game.
Team news: Haris Duljevic and Elvir Koljic have pulled out of the Bosnia squad, with Milan Duric being called up to replace Koljic.
Edin Dzeko has 59 goals in 110 international appearances and has notched up four goals and one assist in his previous eight outings for Bosnia.
As for the Netherlands, defenders Stefan De Vrij and Dalet Blind are back from injury, but Mohamed Ihattaren and Steven Bergwijn are absent.
We could see the likes of Nathan Ake, Quincy Promes and Marten de Roon restored to the starting line-up after the trio started the defeat to Mexico on the bench.
Bosnia will be desperate to bounce back quickly from their disappointing loss to Norther Ireland in midweek, although it’s difficult to predict how the team will fare.
