Bulgaria vs Hungary - 08/10/2020
2268
On Thursday night, Bulgaria and Hungary go head-to-head in one of the Euro 2021 semi-final play-offs. The winners of this clash will host either Romania or Iceland in the final to determine who will qualify for next years tournament.
Bulgaria have been in terrible international form of late, winning just once in their last 16 international outings. The home side has also lost eight of those 11 matches to make matters worse. Last time out, they suffered a 1-0 defeat in Wales in the Nations League.
Their recent international matches have been tight and low-scoring in recent games, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last five matches.
One of the main reasons for the low-scoring encounters is that the home side has failed to find the net in five of their last seven international matches.
Even home has offered Bulgaria little comfort in their most recent games, as they have won just once in eight outings on home soil.
Similar to their hosts Hungary have not been picking up great results of late, as they have won one and lost three of their last four international matches. A 3-2 home defeat by Russia in the Nations League last time out means that the visitors have now conceded at least two goals in three of their last four matches.
Their poor recent defensive displays have been a factor in there being over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight games.
Hungary have struggled to pick up wins on their travels of late, as they have won just two of their last 14 away games. However, they did win their last away match, picking up a highly creditable 1-0 win in Turkey.
With neither team in great form, it is of no surprise that Forebet predicts that this game will finish in a low-scoring draw.
