Real Madrid remain unbeaten in their opening three league games but don’t seem to be firing on all cylinders yet. A goalless draw at Real Sociedad was followed up by a narrow 3-2 win at Betis and then a 1-0 win at home to Valladolid, making for a less than spectacular start to the campaign.
Real won the league title by 5pts last season, ahead of their arch-rivals Barcelona. The champions only three defeats arrived on the road where they dropped points in eight of their 19 matches. Madrid scored 10 fewer goals away from home than they did in their own backyard in 2019/20, but only conceded 14 goals on their travels.
Both teams scored in 47% of Real’s away games last season, and the Madrid based club only failed to score in 21% of those outings. 53% of those 19 away days produced over 2.5 goals, and four of Real’s last five meetings with Levante have also seen at least 3-goals scored.
However, Real have only won two of their last six encounters with Sunday’s hosts. Levante have secured two wins and two draws in their last six clashes with the Spanish giants, including a 1-0 home win last season.
Levante finished mid-table last season, equidistant between the European and the relegation places. Sunday’s hosts secured points in 14 of their 19 home games last season, where their games produced an average of 2.42 total goals.
Both teams scored in 58% of Levante’s home matches during the 2019/20 campaign. The Granotas only kept clean sheets in 26% of their home games last season and have had a tough start to the current campaign.
Levante followed up their 4-2 defeat in the Valencia derby with a 3-1 win at Osasuna. There have been plenty of goals and a distinct lack of clean sheets in Levante’s games; something Forebet expects to continue this weekend.
The team news ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash suggests that the hosts could be without Coke, Rochina, and Lopez for the visit of Real Madrid. The visitors aren’t expecting Kroos, Militao, or Diaz back for the trip to Levante, but should have them back in action this month.
Forebet predicts an open and end to end 90-minutes between these two clubs, as it has been in all bar one of their last five meetings. Real are not at the top of their game, and Forebet is predicting that Levante will cause their guests plenty of problems this weekend. Madrid will be expected to win, but Forebet believes that this match will be close and competitive throughout, with lots of goalmouth action.
