On Thursday night, Slovenia and Greece go head-to-head at the Stadion Stozice, in League C Group 3 of the Nations League.
Slovenia last played an international match in November 2019, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat in Poland in qualifying for the European Championships. The defeat means that the home side has suffered defeat in three of their previous four outings, in the process failing to qualify for what will now be Euro 2021.
In truth, the home side’s recent record in the relatively newly formed Nations League is not a great one either. Since its inception in 2018, Slovenia have failed to win any of their six-eight games in the competition. They have suffered three defeats and picked up three draws, with the draws coming in their last three outings.
Unsurprisingly, considering their general record in the competition, Slovenia does not have a great recent home record, picking up just two points from a possible nine on home soil.
Greece missed out on qualifying for Euro 2021, despite winning their last three matches in qualifying against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia and Finland. A run of poor results at the beginning of qualifying rather hampered their chances of making Euro2021.
The visitors have also experienced mixed fortunes in the Nations League, as they have won three and lost three of their six games in the competition so far. Last time out in the Nations League, Greece suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Estonia.
The game followed a familiar low-scoring trend in the competition for the visitors as their previous four games had all produced under 2.5 goals.
Greece have lost two of their three away matches in the competition in Hungary and Finland.
With not much between these two teams, it is of little surprise that Forebet predicts that this game will produce a low-scoring draw.
