Manchester City welcome Real Madrid to the Etihad Stadium on Friday for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Following a pulsating first leg at the Bernabeu, the English side come into this game with a narrow 2-1 advantage.

Real Madrid appeared to be heading for victory back in February when Isco gave them the lead on the hour mark, but a spirited second-half display from Man City turned the game on its head.

Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne both scored late on to hand Man City their first-ever victory over the Spanish giants, before Sergio Ramos was sent off.

In fact, Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the first leg, racking up 16 shots (eight on target) while enjoying the lion’s share of the possession.

Man City finished their domestic campaign in deadly form, winning eight of their ten Premier League games after the lay-off.

The Cityzens netted 34 goals during that period at an average of just under 3.5 goals per game, and they only conceded four in the process.

Despite finishing 18 points behind Liverpool in the final Premier League standings, Man City were the division’s highest scorers and also boasted the second-best defensive record.

Meanwhile, ten straight victories after the break saw Real Madrid leapfrog rivals Barcelona and clinch their first La Liga title for three years.

Not only did Los Blancos notch up six clean sheets on that run, but they also scored at least two goals on seven occasions in that time.

Zinedine Zidane’s men eventually finished five points clear of Barcelona after conceding just 25 goals in 38 league games.

Head-to-head: These two teams have met five times before, with Real Madrid's only defeat in this fixture coming in the first leg back in February.

Los Blancos claimed a win and a draw against Man City during the 2012/13 Champions League before knocking City out at the semi-final stage in 2015/16.

Team news: Man City have no fresh injury concerns heading into the second leg, although it’s unclear whether Sergio Aguero will feature after spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Real Madrid will be without Sergio Ramos following his red card in the first leg, while Mariano Diaz is a doubt after testing positive for coronavirus last week.

The first leg of this tie dished up plenty of drama, and the second leg is expected to be another hugely entertaining game with multiple goalscoring opportunities.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score over 1.5 goals, with a draw being the most likely outcome.
