On Saturday afternoon, Brescia host Parma at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti in Serie A, as the visitors look to add to the home sides pain of relegation.
With three rounds of games remaining, Brescia have already suffered relegation from the Italian top-flight. Diego Lopez’s team are 19th place in the table, 12 points off the safety of 17th place and will be plying their trade in Serie B next season.
A 3-1 defeat at Lecce last time out means that the home team have lost five of their previous seven matches in the Italian top-flight. Their record of two wins in their previous 20 league matches has contributed heavily to Brescia’s perilous position in the table.
Another factor in their relegation has been a leaky defence, as only fellow bottom-three dwellers Lecce and SPAL have conceded more goals in Serie A this season.
Brescia have struggled for wins on home soil of late in the Italian top-flight, as they have won just two of their previous ten league games at home.
Parma look set for a nice mid-table finish after a steady campaign in the Serie A. Roberto D’Aversa’s team are 11th in the table, but could comfortably finish in the top-half this season. A recent poor run of form has prevented Parma from mounting a serious challenge for a top-six finish.
Their 2-1 victory over Napoli last time out ended a seven-game winless run in Serie A, six of which resulted in defeats. If it was not for the poor run then Parma could have been challenging the likes of Milan and Roma for a Europa League spot for next season.
The visitors have suffered three straight away defeats in the Italian top-flight, having conceded at least two goals in all three defeats.
