Crystal Palace heading for eighth straight defeat against Tottenham
2924

Off-form Crystal Palace host Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on Sunday, with the visitors aiming to break into the top six on the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Tottenham’s four-point lead over eighth-place Sheffield United means that Jose Mourinho’s side won’t finish any lower than seventh this term.

However, with sixth-place Wolves just one point ahead of Spurs, Mourinho’s men will surely be eager to leapfrog the Wanderers.

Spurs have only lost one of their eight games since the restart, with victories over West Ham, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Leicester.

In fact, Tottenham come into the final day of the season on a three-game winning streak, so they will be confident of extending that run to four games against an out-of-sorts Crystal Palace outfit.

The Eagles have now lost their last seven games, a run which has seen them plummet down the standings in recent weeks.

There was talk of Crystal Palace breaking into the European places following four straight victories either side of the lay-off. But Palace now find themselves fourteenth.

Scoring goals has been a problem all season for Roy Hodgson’s men. In fact, only bottom club Norwich have scored fewer Premier League goals than Palace this term.

Crystal Palace have only managed to score in one of their previous seven outings, while 17 goals have been scored against them during that period.

It’s fair to say that if it wasn’t for Palace’s strong first half of the season, Hodgson’s side would almost certainly be in danger of relegation right now.

Head-to-head: Tottenham thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, with Son Heung-min grabbing a brace on that occasion.

In fact, Palace have only beaten Spurs once in their last eight meetings. Tottenham have won the other seven encounters in that time without conceding a goal.

Team news: Defenders James Tomkins, Gary Cahill, Patrick van Aanholt, and Mamadou Sakho are all injured for Crystal Palace, while Luka Milivojevic is a doubt.

Tottenham will be without the suspended Eric Dier for the final game of the season, although Dele Alli could feature after a spell on the sidelines. Tanguy Ndombele is a major injury doubt.

Crystal Palace will be desperate to end their dreadful losing streak, but the contrasting form of the two sides points towards a comfortable Tottenham win.

Forebet predicts that Spurs will keep yet another clean sheet against Palace. The away side are also expected to score over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
