Will Norwich City’s farewell to PL be a massacre at Manchester City?
2346

Norwich City will bid farewell to the Premier League on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.

The Canaries were relegated after matchday 35 with a loss to West Ham. The results post-relegation haven’t got better and Norwich City head to the Etihad Stadium having lost nine straight league games.

It won’t get much better on Sunday as Manchester City welcome Norwich City to the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City are unbeaten in four straight Premier League matches heading into the final day of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side were victorious in midweek against Watford 4-0. The win saw the usual suspects at Manchester City get goals. Raheem Sterling was on target twice as Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte also scored goals.

When these teams met at Carrow Road in September, Norwich City pulled off one of the shocks of the season. The Canaries won 3-2 and the performance left many onlookers believing they could stay up at the end of the campaign.

In spite of the big win at Carrow Road, Norwich City were unable to kick on. Norwich City won just four additional games resulting in their relegation back to the EFL Championship just a year after winning the division.

Manchester City have been outstanding at home losing just twice this season. Six straight home matches have ended in a win as the Cityzens have taken 44 points from 54 this term.

Norwich City have the league’s worst away points total. They have seen their last five away games end in losses and just one time have won away from Carrow Road. A mere six points from 54 have been taken on the road by Daniel Farke’s team.

Guardiola has no new injuries heading into the game. He is still without long-term absentees Sergio Aguero and Claudio Bravo. The manager could rotate his players with an eye on August’s Champions League restart.

Manchester City will play Real Madrid in their quarterfinal second leg up 2-1. Real Madrid are coming off of winning La Liga which could inspire them to win the second leg.

Farke is set to be without five players on Sunday. Josip Drmic, Sam Byram, Moritz Leitner, and Grant Hanley are all ruled out through season-ending injuries. Midfielder Emiliano Buendia will miss the finale due to suspension.

So, can Norwich City do the double over Manchester City? It is not likely as Manchester City will roll to victory over the already relegated Canaries. It may not be a pretty end to Norwich City’s stay in the Premier League.
