Inter Milan host rival Fiorentina on matchday 35 in Serie A. Just four matchdays remain in the Italian top flight with Inter Milan eight points from first-placed Juventus. A win against Fiorentina would once again draw the Nerazzurri within five points of Juventus.
Antonio Conte’s team head into the fixture unbeaten in their last four league matches claiming eight points from 12 possible. Fiorentina haven’t had the season they would have hoped for when the term kicked off.
Fiorentina are 12th in Serie A having taken 42 points. They are unbeaten in five straight games, however. The Viola have collected 11 points from their last 15 possible. They have been on a roll of late pushing themselves away from the relegation zone and into safety.
The Viola have not defeated Inter Milan since the 2016-17 season and are currently on a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions against the Nerazzurri. Fiorentina haven’t won at the San Siro since the 2015-16 campaign as Inter Milan have won four straight matches played at home.
Inter Milan and Fioretina tend to find the back of the net when they play. The last five matches between the clubs saw both clubs score goals. Meanwhile, eight of the last 10 games played between the clubs ended with over 2.5 goals scored.
Conte’s side have been excellent at San Siro this term. They have lost just twice in 17 games while collecting 35 points from 51 possible. The Nerazzurri are unbeaten in five of their last six games at home. They have taken 15 of 18 points possible during that time.
Fiorentina have been decent on the road taking 22 points from 48 possible. They have tallied a +2-goal difference on the road scoring 25 times and allowing 23 scores. The good news for coach Giuseppe Iachini is the team’s current form. Fiorentina have won back to back away fixtures.
Those wins did come against Parma and Lecce, however. Both clubs are in the lower half of the table. Inter Milan, on the other hand, are second in Serie A and set to qualify for the Champions League.
Conte is expected to be without Matias Vecino and Stefano Sensi due to a knee and muscle injury, respectively. Fiorentina have just one injury issue as Marco Benassi could be out of the fixture with a muscle strain.
Inter Milan could reel in Juventus, but it is unlikely that they can claim the Scuddetto. They will make it difficult for the Bianconeri, however. Inter Milan should claim a fifth home win in a row over the Viola as both teams find the back of the net and over 2.5 goals are scored.
