Parma Aim to End Poor Streak with Win Over Napoli

The Italian Serie A action continues this week with a full round of fixtures beginning on Tuesday night. On Wednesday Parma welcome Napoli to the Stadio Ennio Tardini and the hosts find themselves in 14th place while the visitors are in 6th place.

Parma do not have to worry about the threat of relegation but they have been in poor form and dropping down the table. Their most recent match saw them take a 2 goal lead against Sampdoria at home only to concede 3 goals in the second half and lose the game. That result means Parma have failed to win any of their last 7 league games and they have picked up just a single point from the 21 available.

You must go back to the victory over Genoa on the 23rd of June to find the last time Parma won a match. Since then, there have been defeats at home by Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Sampdoria plus away against Hellas Verona, Roma and AC Milan. The only point came in a 2-2 draw at home against Bologna and Parma came back from 2-0 down in that game.

Trends show there have been over 2.5 goals scored in Parma's last 8 games and they have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 7 Serie A matches. Parma have also seen over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Napoli in all competitions.

Napoli come into the game on the back of a 2-1 home victory against Udinese. They fell behind after 22 minutes but equalised before half time and then scored the winning goal in the 90th minute. That result means Napoli are undefeated in their last 5 league games with additional victories coming at home against Roma and away to Genoa. There have also been two draws at home against AC Milan and away to Bologna.

Napoli have been difficult to defeat since February and following the defeat against Lecce on the 9th of February they have lost only one of their 11 Serie A games.

Trends show Napoli have been scoring plenty of goals and they have scored at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches. Away form in Serie A shows Napoli have won 5 of their last 7 league games on the road but they have kept only one clean sheet in their last 5.

Looking ahead to the team news and Parma will be without four players due to injury. Andreas Cornelius, Bruno Alves, Juraj Kucka and Matteo Scozzarella are all on the treatment table.

Napoli travel without Fernando Llorente who is injured and the suspended Arkadiusz Milik. Gennaro Gattuso should have every other player available.

This match should see goals and it would not be a surprise to see both teams scoring plus over 2.5 goals in total. However, given the current form of the two teams Napoli come in as the favourites to take maximum points.
