Despite Leeds victory over Barnsley on Thursday night, the fight for promotion in the Championship is still alive. One of the teams looking to book their place in the Premier League are Brentford, who visit Stoke on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors are currently third-place in the second-tier table, six points behind top of the table Leeds and a point behind West Brom in the second place. Thomas Frank’s team has recorded eight consecutive victories in the Championship, having found the net on at least two occasions in six of their last eight league outings.
A 1-0 win over Preston ended a run of high-scoring games for the Bees in the Championship, as their previous four matches had produced over 2.5 goals.
Brentford have been strong on their travels of late in the second tier. The visitors have suffered just one defeat in their last nine away games in the Championship, having recorded three consecutive victories on the road.
The free-scoring visitors have also scored at least twice in their last four away matches in the English second tier.
Stoke City should preserve their Championship status, as the Potters are five points above the relegation zone, with just two league matches remaining.
The home side’s recent league form has highly inconsistent though, as a record of two wins from their last seven outings illustrates. Last time out in the Championship they picked up a 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
One encouraging facet to Stoke’s game in recent months has been their record at the Bet365 Stadium, as they claimed wins in four of their previous five Championship games, scoring at least twice in all four victories.
This is a massive game for the visitors. Forebet predicts that the Bees will record a ninth straight league victory in a high-scoring encounter.
