Goals look likely when Sassuolo host Juventus

Many people would take a quick glance at this fixture between Sassuolo and Juventus and automatically assume an away win here, and they may well be right, but Wednesday’s hosts, Sassuolo, come into this encounter having racked up four wins on the trot in Serie A - three of which have been away from home.

Overall, Sassuolo are unbeaten in their last six matches in Serie A which includes the four wins on the trot achieved against Fiorentina 3-1 (away), Lecce 4-2 (home), Bologna 2-1 (away) and most impressive of all, a 2-1 victory over Lazio (away).

Sassuolo therefore must be respected here, even if they’re up against the clear leaders of Serie A, Juventus, but let’s not forget that there’s still six matches remaining of this season’s Serie A campaign, and with just six points separating Sassuolo from 6th placed Napoli, the hosts are still in with a chance of claiming one of the European spots.

Of course, they face a tough task here against a strong Juventus outfit so goals looks the best option especially as 14 of Sassuolo’s 15 home matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals.

Onto Juventus, and the league leaders will no doubt be keen to set the record straight following a couple of disappointing results of late which have ended in 4-2 loss away from home at AC Milan which was followed by a 2-2 draw at home with surprise package, Atalanta.

Juventus had previously racked up seven wins on the trot which not only lifted them to the top of Serie A but also gave the Old Lady a commanding eight-point cushion ahead of 2nd placed Inter Milan, but they’ll be wanting to redeem themselves at Sassuolo on Wednesday evening.

Having won 10 of their 16 away matches to date, Juventus look formidable opponents for Sassuolo but they’ll also be wary of Sassuolo’s recent winning streak along with their dangerous goalscoring personnel comprising of Caputo (16 goals), Berardi (12 goals) and Boga (11 goals).

Obviously, Juventus carry serious goal threats of their own with the likes of Ronaldo (28 goals), Dybala (11 goals) and Higuain (6 goals) in their attacking personnel, so goals also look likely from Juventus here as well.

Each of the previous five meetings have resulted in over 2.5 goals and Wednesday’s clash should be no exception.
