AC Milan host Serie A’s first-place team Juventus on Tuesday night at the San Siro. The Rossoneri are up to seventh and four matches unbeaten in the league. They could move as high as fifth with a win and results elsewhere going their way in midweek.
Juventus were able to extend their lead over second-place Lazio at the weekend. The Bianconeri defeated rival Torino 4-1 while Lazio fell to AC Milan 3-0 at home. Juventus now have an eight-point lead over Lazio in the race for the Scudetto.
AC Milan and Juventus have already met three times in the league and cup this season. Juventus won their Serie A game 1-0 at the Allianz Arena before their two Coppa Italia semifinal matches ended in draws. All three games saw under 2.5 goals scored by the clubs.
The Rossoeri have recorded 20 points from 42 possible this season at the San Siro. Goalscoring has been a problem as just 15 goals have been tallied. That is just over 1.0 goals per game. Meanwhile, the team’s defence has conceded 15 goals to opponents.
Juventus’ have posted a 10W-2D-3L away record in 2019-20. They have scored 24 goals while conceding 15 times on the way to collecting 32 points from 45 possible. Juventus have the second-best away points total in Serie A.
AC Milan have not defeated Juventus since the 2016-17 season. They have gone 12 matches in all competitions without a win versus Juventus. Nine of those 12 matches ended with Juventus winning.
Three players look set to miss Tuesday night’s clash for AC Milan. Samu Castillejo, Mateo Musacchio, and Leo Durate are all three suffering from injury and could be on the shelf for Juventus’ visit.
Juventus have a long list of players set to miss the fixture. Mattia De Sciglio, Alex Sandro, Sami Khedira, Giorgio Chielini, and Merih Demiral are all likely to sit out with their respective injuries.
News leaked over the weekend that Juventus star Paulo Dybala is likely to extend his contract at the club. The news comes just 12 months after it was reported that the Argentine was set to leave the club.
Juventus have been excellent against AC Milan over the course of their last 12 matches. That trend of wins doesn’t look likely of ending as Juventus move to 10 games from their last 13 against AC Milan with a win.
