Leicester Need Win to Ease Champions League Fears
3928

The third round of Premier League fixtures since the resumption continues on Wednesday night. One of the matches to be played features Everton and Leicester City who meet at Goodison Park.

The hosts come into the game in 12th place in the Premier League and will be aiming to finish the season in the top half of the table. Leicester City seemed certain to qualify for the Champions League but are now under pressure from the teams below them.

Everton recorded their first victory in 5 Premier League games as they defeated Norwich City 1-0 away from home. Despite playing against the club currently bottom of the table, it was never going to be an easy game and Everton will be delighted to have picked up maximum points and end their poor run of results.

That victory means Everton have picked up 4 points from a possible 6 since the Premier League has resumed following a 0-0 draw at home against Liverpool.

The Toffees have been finding wins difficult to come by in general but have remained difficult to beat at home. Trends show Everton are undefeated in their last 9 home matches is in all competitions and have lost only 3 of their last 22 games at Goodison Park. However, Everton have managed to win only one of their last 4 home Premier League games and will need to improve on that record if they are to finish in the top half this season.

Leicester City know they cannot afford to keep dropping points if they want to remain in the Champions League qualifying places. Although The Foxes have remained undefeated in their 2 games following the resumption of the Premier League, they have failed to pick up a victory. Leicester City have been held to draws at Watford and at home against Brighton and Hove Albion.

They were also eliminated from the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, losing 1-0 at home against Chelsea.

In the Premier League, Leicester City have won only one of their last 7 games in the competition with the victory coming at home against Aston Villa. Trends show Leicester City have failed to win any of their last 4 away Premier League matches. In addition, there have been under 2.5 goals scored in 7 of their last 8 games.

Team news and Everton are definitely without three players as Cenk Tosun, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Theo Walcott remain on the treatment table. Fabian Delph, Yerry Mina and Djibril Sidibe are doubts.

Leicester City travel without Ricardo Pereira who has a long term injury problem. James Maddison and Daniel Amartey are doubts, with the former being a big miss if not available.

Leicester City will be hoping this is the game which sees them turn their poor form around. They have won each of their last 3 meetings with Everton and will be hoping the home defence gives them space in which to run behind. We could see under 2.5 goals scored and this could be the match that sees Leicester return to winning ways.
