Boro to record vital win on Humberside
Hull City vs Middlesbrough - 02/07/2020
2604
The fight for survival in the English Championship could be heading for a dramatic conclusion this season. There are only five points separate Wigan in 17th place from 22nd place Huddersfield in the relegation zone.
Two of the teams trying to avoid the drop from the second tier this season, Hull City and Middlesbrough meet on Thursday afternoon.
With all their rivals playing earlier in the week, the home side could find themselves in the relegation zone by the time this game kicks off.
The Tigers are currently only out of the danger zone courtesy of superior goal difference to Huddersfield, who are in the final relegation berth.
Hull have endured a nightmare 2020 so far. They are winless since January, having failed to win in 13 Championship outings and suffered ten defeats in the English second tier. The team from Humberside have recorded just one league win in the calendar year.
A 3-3 draw at Birmingham City last time out at least ended a five-game losing streak for the home side. The game also saw the Tigers score for only the second match in their last five league outings.
Things are looking up slightly at Middlesbrough after the appointment of the experienced Neil Warnock as head coach and a 2-0 win over Stoke last time out. The victory moved the team from Teesside two points above the drop zone. It was only the visitor's second win in 13 matches in the Championship.
Those wins have been in Boro’s last two away games, as the team from the north east had won at Charlton before their win at Stoke. However, the visitors have won just four of their previous 19 matches on their travels in the Championship.
Forebet predicts that Boro will move further clear of the relegation zone by recording a third straight away victory in the second tier.
