Leicester City host Brighton & Hove Albion at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday after both sides experienced dramatic endings to their first games back following the lay-off.
The Foxes must’ve though they’d claimed all three points against Watford when Ben Chilwell rocketed in a spectacular long-range strike in the 90th minute. However, in injury-time equaliser from Hornets defender Craig Dawson ensured the points were shared at Vicarage Road.
Despite registering 15 attempts in their previous game, Leicester only managed two shots on target and saw just 45% possession.
Brendan Rodgers’ side remain third and firmly in control of their bid to secure Champions League soccer for next season. But with the cashing pack hot on their heels, Leicester can’t afford to drop many more points from now until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Brighton returned to action with a climactic victory over Arsenal. The Seagulls went behind midway through the second half, but Lewis Dunk pulled a goal back soon after. Deep into added-time, Neal Maupay scored the winner.
Remarkably, that was Brighton’s first win of 2020. Six draws and three defeats since the turn of the year have prevented the club from steering clear of the relegation zone.
Brighton aren’t out of relegation danger just yet, although the much-needed win against the Gunners has put Graham Potter’s side in a strong position to beat the drop.
It’s fair to say that Leicester have enjoyed playing against Brighton in recent years. Brighton haven’t claimed a victory in this fixture since 2014, with Leicester going unbeaten in their past five meetings.
Four victories and one draw during that period have seen the Foxes enhance their head-to-head record in this fixture, while Leicester have scored exactly two goals in each of their previous four wins against the Seagulls.
Looking at the team news, Ricardo Pereira will miss the rest of the season due to injury, so James Justin is likely to start at right-back for Leicester after impressing against Watford.
As for Brighton, Jose Izquierdo remains a long-term absentee. Potter has no fresh injury concerns, but both managers are expected to make changes with the busy schedule ahead.
Given that Brighton are not completely out of relegation trouble altogether, the visitors are likely put up a fight on Tuesday.
However, Leicester have more than enough quality to overcome the Seagulls. A comfortable home win is on the cards here.
