Tottenham Hotspur host West Ham with top four in sight

Tottenham Hotspur will feel hard done by refereeing decisions on matchday 30. Twice Manchester United were given penalties for very tame challenges. On the bright side, one of the penalties was overturned by VAR.

The other penalty allowed Bruno Fernandes to score and Manchester United left London with a share of the points., however Now, Jose Mourinho side host West Ham with the top four in sight. Spurs are just four points behind fifth-placed Manchester United and six behind Chelsea.

The Blues do have a game in hand and by the time Spurs kick off against West Ham, could be nine points ahead. West Ham, on the other hand, are mired in a relegation fight. Their matchday 30 return to action wasn’t a good one as Wolverhampton Wanderers downed the hammers 2-0.

David Moyes’ team looked as inept on matchday 30’s restart as they did back in March. The only thing keeping them out of the relegation zone currently is goal difference and the even worse ineptitudes of Bournemouth.

West Ham can claim to have beaten Tottenham Hotspur at the new Spurs stadium in north London. Last season the Hammers went to the new venue and won 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Michail Antonio.

When the sides met earlier this season at the London Stadium, Spurs left 3-2 winners. Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, and Harry Kane all scored for Spurs in the opening 49 minutes.

The Hammers did make things interesting with a comeback in the final 15 minutes thanks to Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna. However, the late comeback was not enough as West Ham lost.

Tottenham Hotspur have taken 27 of 45 points at home this season. Their last two matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ended in a draw and loss, respectively.

West Ham have lost six straight away games and cannot buy a point on their travels. Just three times this season have West Ham won away from home. They have scored the third-fewest away goals in 2019-20 with a mere 12.

Spurs are unbeaten in 12 of their last 20 matches against West Ham. Nine of those 12 fixtures ended in wins for Spurs. They will be difficult to defeat at home especially with West Ham’s atrocious away record.

The away team have won six of the last seven matches between the two clubs. The only one of those seven games not to see an away team win was a draw in January 2018.

Can the Hammers get three massive points away to Spurs for a second straight season or will Tottenham Hotspur improve their chances of a top-four finish?
