Juventus desperate for a win against Bologna
Bologna FC vs Juventus FC - 22/06/2020

Juventus may be in first place in Serie A but things are not going well for coach Maurizio Sarri. The Italian manager is under fire after Juventus failed to win the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night losing on penalties to Napoli.
Star man Cristiano Ronaldo was a non-factor in the fixture and didn’t even take a penalty during the shootout. Juventus have now played twice since Italian football resumed thanks to a semifinal second leg cup game and the final. Both games saw the Bianconeri fail to score.
The suddenly unable to score Juventus head to Bologna on Monday night to face off with the league’s 12th-best team. Bologna have taken 34 points and sit just five points back of the top six and Europa League qualification.
Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has done well with very little at his disposal. Bologna do not have the star names of the teams in the league’s top six and his coaching is the very reason the club are not far off of Europa League qualification.
When the clubs met earlier this season, Juventus claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win. Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 19th minute but Bologna’s Danilo equalised minutes later. Juventus got the winner through Miralem Pjanic just before the hour mark.
Although Juventus have not scored in their last 180 minutes of football, they did keep back to back clean sheets. Juventus played out a nil-nil Coppa Italia semifinal second leg match before their nil-nil final with Napoli.
Bologna are not great at home posting just 17 points from 39 possible. However, Mihajlovic has led the team to five games without a loss at home. They have taken nine points from the last 18 available on home soil.
Juventus’ poor form since the restart isn’t anything new as the seeds of a downturn in form had sprouted before the break. Juventus lost three of their last six away games leaving a door open for Lazio to win the Scudetto. Just one point separates the two clubs at the moment in the title race.
Ronaldo has been heavily relied on by Juventus to score goals. If he doesn’t play well, like in the cup final, the Old Lady struggle. He has accounted for 42% of the club’s scoring with 21 goals.
Bologna will not be an easy to defeat despite Juventus winning their last eight matches in all competitions against them. The Rossoblu have not beaten Juventus since the 2010-11 season. Expect a close game with Juventus pulling away in the end.
