Fulham and Brentford are both chasing promotion in the EFL Championship and on Saturday meet in a London derby at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers are six points off of second place and automatic promotion. Brentford are 10 points back of West Brom and the final automatic promotion place. The two rivals are favourites to make the EFL Championship playoffs but need to keep picking up points to reach the postseason.

The Bees are unbeaten in four straight games versus Fulham and will have plenty of confidence heading to Craven Cottage on Saturday. They have taken eight of 12 points from Fulham over the course of their last four fixtures.

Earlier this season, Brentford claimed a 1-0 win against Fulham thanks to a Bryan Mbeumo goal in the first half. Prior to the EFL Championship break, Brentford had been in a terrible run of form going unbeaten in five of their last six games. Four of Brentford’s last six fixture all ended in draws.

Scott Parker’s Fulham were unbeaten in five of their last six games with nine points from 18 possible taken. Goals suddenly became difficult to come by for Fulham as they scored just six goals in their last six fixtures.

Fulham do have the EFL Championship’s best home points total. The Cottagers have scored 32 goals at home but one of their big issues has been conceding too many goals. Twenty-one strikes have been allowed by the Cottagers at home.

Brentford do not travel particularly well as they have posted a 7W-4D-8L record from 19 games on the road. The Bees did go unbeaten in five of their last six away fixtures improving on Thomas Frank’s sides hopes of promotion to the Premier League.

The Bees are unbeaten in eight of the last nine games against Fulham in all competitions. Five of those eight fixtures ended in wins for Brentford.

Four of the last five meetings between the clubs finished with under 2.5 goals and that trend is likely to continue this weekend. The Cottagers have seen goals dry up with six of their last seven games finishing with under 2.5 goals in the league.

Fulham have drawn their last three matches against Brentford at Craven Cottage in all competitions. That trend is also likely to continue on matchday 38.

Saturday’s big EFL Championship top-four showdown between Fulham and Brentford should end in a draw with under 2.5 goals.
