Belshina’s woes at the bottom of the Vysshaya Liga continued last weekend when they were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat away from home at Shakhtyor Soligorsk which has left the hosts anchored to bottom of the Belarus top flight ahead of this important upcoming clash against Slavia Mozyr.

Belshina still remain one of only two clubs yet to register a league win in this season’s domestic top flight campaign (Smolevichi are the other), and early indications suggest this could be a long and tough, and perhaps ultimately disappointing season for Belshina as they already find themselves seven points adrift of third from bottom outfit, FC Minsk, and safety.

Four defeats out of their last five matches include defeats to Slutsk, Dinamo Brest, Isloch Minsk and Shakhtyor Soligorsk and doesn’t bode well for Belshina as the hosts desperately seek a way out of their current plight.

The bigger picture shows that Belshina have failed to win any of their last 17 matches overall, but there’s a glimmer of hope at home where four of Belshina’s last six games at home have at least seen both teams score.

Onto Slavia Mozyr, and although their situation by contrast doesn’t appear to be too bad as the visitors sit in 11th place and hold an eight-point margin above second from bottom Smolevichi, they have only recorded just one win out of their last seven matches overall in the Vysshaya Liga.

That solitary success came in the shape of a 3-2 win away from home at Vitebsk but defeats to Isloch Minsk, FC Minsk and Shakhtyor Soligorsk have prevented Slavia from moving further up the Belarus top flight ladder.

Slavia Mozyr’s results away from home also appear to be the case of ‘hit-or-miss’ for the visitors as they have gained wins at Vitebsk (towards the end of last season), Dinamo Brest and Vitebsk (this term) but have also fallen to defeats on the road at Shakhtyor (last season), Slutsk, Isloch Minsk and Shakhtyor (this season).

Slavia’s last seven away matches have alternated between wins and losses so the straight win market on Slavia would appear to be a lottery but the goals market appeals, especially the both teams to score option as five of Slavia Mozyr’s last seven away matches have seen both teams hit the back of the net.
