Slutsk and Rukh Brest to both score

Slutsk and Rukh Brest to both score
1906

Two of the top five in-form sides in the Belarus Vysshaya Liga will go head-to-head on Saturday when Slutsk take on Rukh Brest at the Stadyen Haradski with a valuable three points at stake for both teams.

Despite sitting in 4th place, Slutsk will be aiming to avoid a third league defeat in the domestic top flight following recent back-to-back losses against Energetyk-BGU and BATE, and this upcoming fixture against 8th placed Rukh Brest is no cake-walk either as the visitors have been hard to beat this term.

Prior to these recent defeats, Slutsk had put together a three-match winning streak which included victories over Shakhtyor Soligorsk, Belshina and Dinamo Minsk, but the hosts have shown an inconsistent side to their nature as they’ve also suffered defeats at home to Dinamo Brest and Energetyk-BGU.

Slutsk’s five home matches have resulted in W2 D1 L2 which underlines their erratic results to date but 4 of these 5 home matches have also seen both teams score.

Onto Rukh Brest, and the visitors have adapted to life in the Vysshaya Liga pretty well as they head into this encounter on the back of a six-match unbeaten sequence which has helped lift them up into the top half of the Belarus top flight and into 8th place.

Rukh Brest experienced something of an early wobble in the first few weeks of the new season as they suffered defeats to Energetyk-BGU and BATE but the visitors have since staged a stubborn recovery and have made themselves a hard unit to break down.

Wins over FC Minsk and Neman Grodno along with four draws make them a tough opponent and they’re by no means ‘easy-beats’ in this their first ever season in the Vysshaya Liga.

Although Rukh Brest have failed to score in 3 of their 5 away matches to date so far this season, they’ll fancy their chances of not only scoring against an inconsistent and leaky Slutsk outfit, but will also be looking for at least a point here in order to maintain their unbeaten run.

Slutsk, being at home, will be expected to press forward but their tendency to concede goals could once again come to the fore again here with Rukh Brest looking more than capable of giving as good as they get, so both teams to score here looks a likely outcome.
