Energetik to win the big game at the bottom of the Yokary Liga

The Yokary Liga in Turkmenistan is starting to take shape, as we head into gameweek nine of the top-flight campaign. Two teams who have made poor starts to the new season Energetik Mary and MERW Mary meet on Monday afternoon in a regional derby.

Energetik are bottom of the table, having picked up just five points from their eight games so far in the top-flight. A win in this clash would certainly kick-start their league campaign, though.

However, league wins have been in short supply for Energetik of late. The home side heads into this clash on a four-game winless run in the Turkmenistan top-flight. A 4-0 home hammering by Kopetdag Asgabat last time out means they have also suffered three straight league defeats.

Their main problem of late has been finding the net, as Energetik have failed to score in their last three league matches. A record of just three goals in their eight league games this season is one of the biggest causes of their current league position.

MERW have picked up just one more point than the hosts, having won two of their eight league matches so far this season, including beating the home soil 1-0 on the opening weekend of the campaign.

However, the visitors league campaign has gone slightly downhill since the victory, as they have lost six of their last seven matches in the Yokary Liga. Last time out, MERV suffered a 4-0 home drubbing by champions Altyn Asyr.

The visitor's recent record away from home in the top-flight is woeful, as they have failed to win 28 league matches on their travels while suffering ten straight away defeats.
