Dinamo Minsk and Slutsk to both score in Saturday clash
2114

Dinamo Minsk will be looking to make it three league wins on the trot this Saturday when they play host to the current Vysshaya Liga leaders, Slutsk, when the two teams meet at the Stadyen Traktar in the nation’s capital.

Recent back-to-back wins against Neman Grodno 2-0 at home along with last weekend’s convincing 3-1 win away from home at Smolevichi have helped lift Dinamo Minsk out of the lower regions of the Belarus top flight and up into 9th place with just 2 points separating them from 3rd placed Torpedo Zhodino ahead of this weekend’s action.

This is in stark contrast to the beginning of this season’s Vysshaya Liga campaign which saw Dinamo Minsk off to a disappointing start having been dealt back-to-back defeats by Rukh Brest and local rivals, FC Minsk.

However, a 2-0 home win over Torpedo Zhodino followed and the hosts will now be feeling upbeat about their chances this Saturday, albeit against the current league leaders, especially as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat upon Slutsk in their last meeting at home back in September of last year.

As mentioned earlier, Slutsk currently sit top of the Belarus top flight with a 1-point lead over 2nd placed Isloch Minsk prior to this weekend’s slate of fixtures and having won 4 of their first 6 matches and losing just once, Slutsk will also be in a confident frame of mind ahead of this clash.

Victories over Slavia Mozyr 3-1, 3-2 away at Isloch Minsk, 2-1 away from home at Shakhtyor Soligorsk and last weekend’s 3-2 home win over struggling Belshina have helped fire Slutsk to the top of the table.

However, the visitors may have their work cut out against a Dinamo Minsk side who have recorded back-to-back wins in recent times, while on the road, Slutsk have produced inconsistent results of late as they’ve won 6 but have also lost 4 of their last 10 matches on their travels in the Vysshaya Liga.

Midfielder Bala and forward Serdyuk (3 goals apiece) should ensure that Slutsk get on the scoresheet here in what is expected to be a tightly-fought affair with both teams hitting the back of the net.

In addition, the previous two meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score with the home side winning 2-1 on each occasion.
