On Tuesday night, Oxford host AFC Wimbledon at the Kassam Stadium, as the home side look to improve their promotion hopes and the visitors look to avoid the drop from League One.

Oxford’s form in League One has been poor of late, as the home side have now won just once in their last eight matches in the third tier. Last time out, the U’s suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Sunderland.

The poor recent run of form has left Karl Robinson’s team eight points outside the play-off spots. If they are to have any chance of mounting a promotion push then they need to start winning games and quickly.

Oxford’s form at the Kassam Stadium has not been great in recent weeks, as they have won just once in their last four home games in League One. They have also scored just five goals in their last seven outings on home soil.

AFC Wimbledon are currently 20th place in the League One table. However, the Dons are seven points clear of the drop zone.

The visitors look set to avoid relegation, mainly helped by the fact that north west outfits Bury and Bolton were deducted 12 points each for financial problems, with the former infamously going bust.

It is probably a good job that the teams below them are struggling, as the visitors have won just once in their last nine league matches. A 2-2 draw at Rotherham last time out means that they have failed to win in five league outings.

The Dons have been poor travellers of late, winning just one of their last eight away games in League One, including suffering defeats in three of their last five matches on their travels.
