The final match of the weekend in the Premier League takes place on Monday night as Chelsea play Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. This is a game which has a great deal riding on it in terms of the top four this season.

Chelsea begin the weekend in 4th place on 41 points while Manchester United are in 8th place on 35 points.

Chelsea come into the match having last played on the 1st of February at Leicester City. They came away with a point thanks to a 2-2 draw with both goals being scored by central defender Antonio Rüdiger. That result means Chelsea are unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions including a win over Hull City away from home in the FA Cup plus a draw at home against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Premier League form shows Chelsea have won only one of their last 5 matches which was a 3-0 victory at home against Burnley. Prior to that win they were held to a 1-1 draw at Brighton plus suffered a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United before the draws with Arsenal and Leicester City.

Trends show Chelsea have won 2 of their last 6 home Premier League matches with the victories coming against Aston Villa and Burnley. They have scored 2 or more goals in 13 of their last 20 home league matches but have kept just one clean sheet in their last 6 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United travel to London having previously been held to a 0-0 draw at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers. That result means the Red Devils are undefeated in their last 3 games in all competitions having previously defeated Tranmere Rovers 6-0 Away from home in the FA Cup and Manchester City 1-0 away from home in the League Cup.

However, Manchester United have won only one of their last 5 Premier League matches with their latest victory coming at home against Norwich City on the 11th of January. Sandwiched between that win and the draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester United lost 2-0 at Liverpool and 2-0 at home against Burnley.

Manchester United have lost 3 of their last 4 away Premier League games and failed to score a goal in 3 of those 4 matches.

Team news and Chelsea have a couple of doubts for the game including Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Both players are back in training and could feature on the substitutes bench.

Manchester United are still without Marcus Rashford due to a back injury. Paul Pogba is unlikely to play any part in the match while Axel Tuanzebe, Scott McTominay and Timothy Fosu-Mensah have all returned to training this week.

This is going to be a huge occasion at Stamford Bridge. There is a strong rivalry between these two clubs and the prize of Champions League football is on the line. Playing at home gives Chelsea the advantage and they could come away with maximum points in a game which sees both teams score.
