Must Win Game for AC Milan in Pursuit of European Football
3295

The final match of the weekend in the Italian Serie A takes place on Monday night as AC Milan welcome Torino to the San Siro. As things stand in the table ahead of the fixtures this week, AC Milan are in 8th place on 32 points while Torino are in 13th place on 27 points.

If AC Milan are to qualify for European football next season, they really need to win this game.

AC Milan come into the match having drawn 1-1 at home with Juventus in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia on Thursday night. It appeared as though AC Milan were going to take a crucial 1-0 lead with them into the second leg but Juventus were awarded a penalty thanks to VAR. Cristiano Ronaldo converted the spot-kick to level the match.

It was the second time in succession that AC Milan have let a lead slip in a big match having led 2-0 against rivals Inter Milan in Serie A last weekend only to go on and lose the game 4-2. However, trends show AC Milan are undefeated in 7 of their last 8 home matches in Serie A but they have won just one of their last 6. The single victory came against Udinese on the 19th of January and was a 3-2 win.

AC Milan have seen under 2.5 goals scored in 4 of their last 5 home league games and only once in those 5 matches have they managed to score more than a single goal.

Torino make the trip to Milan in desperate search of a win having lost each of their previous 5 games in all competitions. The defeats have come at Sassuolo and Lecce plus at home against Atalanta and Sampdoria in Serie A in addition to an extra-time defeat at AC Milan in the Coppa Italia. It has been a poor run of results and Torino have been struggling defensively.

Trends show they have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 5 games in all competitions that have been conceding a lot of goals. Torino have conceded 20 goals in their last 5 matches including 4 against AC Milan, 7 against Atalanta and 4 against Lecce.

Torino have lost by 2 or more goals all of their last 3 Serie A games and have won 3 of their last 10 league matches on the road.

Team news and AC Milan are without defender Andrea Conti who is suspended. Léo Duarte and Rade Krunic are both injured while Lucas Biglia remains a doubt due to a knee injury.

Torino also have a player suspended as Armando Izzo misses out. Simone Zaza and Daniele Baselli are doubts due to a muscle and calf injury respectively.

Torino are aiming to get their season back on track following a string of poor results but this is unlikely to be the match where it will happen. AC Milan have shown plenty of promise when taking the lead recently against Inter Milan and Juventus and will be hoping to take maximum points in a match which could see both teams scoring.
