Wednesday night’s hosts, Reading have had to endure a 6-match sequence in the Championship without a win as The Royals have dropped down to 16th place on the second tier ladder.
Mark Bowen’s Reading had previously enjoyed a solid and impressive run of 7 matches without defeat as he guided the Berkshire outfit away from the relegation zone thanks to wins against Derby County, QPR, Preston North End and Fulham along with picking up points in draws with Barnsley, Stoke City and Nottingham Forest.
However, Reading have since suffered a downturn in form as the hosts have failed to win any of their last 6 matches overall in the Championship which includes defeats to Millwall and Bristol City, and although they’ve picked up points against Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City and Hull City, this means the hosts have picked up just 3 points from the last possible 18 on offer.
That said, Reading have lost just 1 of their last 5 matches at their Madejski Stadium which was a 1-0 loss to Bristol City, so this gives Reading some hope here.
Onto West Brom, and The Baggies have recently turned around some previous poor results in the Championship as the visitors have registered back-to-back wins against Luton Town and Millwall, both by 2-0 margins which ended a run of 7 matches without a win in the Championship.
West Brom’s lead has been reinstalled at the top of the Championship by a 4-point margin over 2nd placed Leeds United thanks to their recent wins, and the west midlands outfit have actually picked up more points on the road than on home turf at the Hawthorns.
The visitors have picked up 9 wins out of their 16 away matches so far in this season’s Championship campaign, while losing just 1 out of their last 10 matches on their travels, so Slaven Bilic’s side have made themselves a hard team to beat on the road this term.
Indeed, West Brom have suffered just 2 defeats out of their last 16 matches on their travels in the Championship which is a pretty formidable record in perhaps the most difficult division to get promoted from.
Reading’s previous impressive form seems to have eluded them while West Brom will be keen to extend their lead at the top with a win here.
