Eintracht Frankfurt have experienced a poor Bundesliga campaign by their recent standards. However, heading into Friday night’s home game against Augsburg, Adi Hutter’s team seem to be finally returning to form.
Last time out in the Bundesliga, the home side drew 1-1 with Fortuna Dusseldorf. Although Frankfurt will be disappointed not to have taken maximum points against Fortuna, the draw means they are unbeaten in three games in the German top-flight. A midweek 3-1 home win over title-challenging RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal will also have boosted the player's confidence.
Prior to the recent turnaround in fortunes, Frankfurt were looking over their shoulders nervously at the relegation zone. However, a victory in this clash would move Hutter’s team above Augsburg in the table and six points off the European spots.
Frankfurt’s recent home form in the Bundesliga has been poor. However, a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig ended a three-game winless run on home soil in the German top-flight for the home side.
Even when Frankfurt were getting underwhelming home results they remained prolific in front of goal, scoring at least twice in eight of their last nine Bundesliga matches.
Augsburg will be happy with their Bundesliga campaign so far, as the visitors sit tenth place in the table, a point and place higher than the home side.
Results have taken a turn for the worse of late for the visitors in the German top-flight, though, as they have lost three of their last four league games. However, a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen last time out ended a three-game losing run for Martin Schmidt’s team.
The visitors will once again look to forward Florian Neiderlechner for attacking inspiration, as the 29-year-old is enjoying the most prolific league campaign of his career firing home 11 goals in 20 Bundesliga appearances.
Forebet predicts that Neiderlechner and co. will return home empty-handed, having suffered a defeat in a high-scoring encounter.
