Norwich City are bottom of the Premier League table and need to win this weekend versus Newcastle United to have hope of rescuing their season. The Canaries gained a big win against Newcastle United earlier this season 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from striker Teemu Pukki.
Newcastle United have improved since that loss in August at Carrow Road. Steve Bruce’s team will be confident of gaining a win due to their excellent form at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies are seven points above the relegation zone and a win would surely mean safety is confirmed this term. Norwich City, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the Premier League with 17 points from 72 possible.
Norwich City are six points from safety. A loss and results going against them at the weekend would almost guarantee relegation with 13 games to go after the weekend.
Newcastle United have taken 19 points from 36 possible at home. Goals have been in short supply as just 12 have been scored by the Magpies. The good news for Newcastle United is they have allowed just 12 scores against them.
Daniel Farke’s Norwich City have the worst away points total in the division. Norwich City have taken five away points from a possible 36. They have seen three straight league away matches end in losses.
Bruce continues to have multiple injury concerns at St. James’ Park. Eleven players are listed as injured for Bruce with 10 of those individuals ruled out.
The likes of Jetro Willems, Jonjo Shelvey, and Javi Manquillo are ruled out of the game. Bruce has signed a few players in the January transfer window including Nabil Bentaleb and Danny Rose. They have done good business this month and the players should upgrade the team.
Five players are listed as injured for Norwich City. The good news for Farke is only Ben Godfrey and Timm Klose are currently ruled out. Emiliano Buendia, Ibrahim Amadou, and Todd Cantwell are all possibly available to return for the match.
Newcastle United have been very good at home this term. Norwich City have not been good on the road. It is the teams’ opposing form that will see the home side pick up a big win.
The Magpies will just edge Norwich City in a close game at St. James’ Park. Expect both of the teams to score and over 2.5 goals just like earlier this season. However, the difference will be in the result as Newcastle United win.
