Rangers to continue good run against St. Mirren
Rangers FC vs St. Mirren - 22/01/2020
2405
Rangers head into Wednesday night’s SPL clash against St. Mirren at Ibrox Stadium in high spirits after a 2-1 win last time out at city and title rivals Celtic.
The victory at Celtic Park moved Rangers to within two points of their bitter-rivals in the fight for the SPL title. Steven Gerrard’s team will fancy their chances of ending the Hoops recent stranglehold on the Scottish crown.
Since a home defeat against their rivals in September, Rangers are unbeaten in 15 games, having recorded an impressive 13 victories.
The home side has now also won their last four league games while scoring at least two goals in nine of their last ten outings in the SPL.
A key to their recent attacking endeavours in the Scottish top-flight has been the form of strike-pair Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos, who have scored 11 and 12 goals respectively in the SPL this season.
Rangers have a strong recent record at Ibrox in the SPL, winning their last six league matches at the famous old ground. It will come as little surprise that Gerrard’s team has also been prolific of late on home soil in the Scottish top-flight, as the Gers have scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine home matches.
While Rangers battle for the title, opponents St. Mirren will just be happy to preserve their SPL status this season. Jim Goodwin’s team are currently six points above the relegation spot, but only one above the relegation play-off berth.
A 1-0 home win over Kilmarnock last time out in the SPL could prove massive for the visitors. The victory ended a three-game winless run in the Scottish top-flight for St. Mirren.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Forebet predicts that they will suffer a defeat in a low-scoring encounter to add to their relegation worries.
