Huge London Derby at Stamford Bridge
5354

We have a full set of fixtures in the English Premier League this week beginning with games on Tuesday night. Arguably the biggest fixture on Tuesday is the London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea come into this game occupying 4th place in the Premier League which is the final qualifying position for the Champions League next season. They are 5 points clear of 5th place Manchester United and 6 points behind 3rd place Leicester City. Arsenal begin the week in 10th place and are currently closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

Chelsea suffered a disappointing result on the weekend as they lost 1-0 at Newcastle United thanks to a last minute goal. With Leicester City going down 2-1 at Burnley on Sunday, it was a wasted opportunity to close the gap on the team in 3rd place. It was Chelsea's first defeat in 5 matches following wins over Arsenal and Burnley in the Premier League plus Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Trends show Chelsea have struggled at home in recent Premier League matches and have won only 2 of their last 5 at Stamford Bridge. The wins came over Aston Villa and Burnley but there have been defeats to West Ham United, Bournemouth and Southampton, all of which were games they were expected to win.

Chelsea have scored 2 or more goals in 6 of their 9 most recent home games in all competitions but have kept just one clean sheet in their last 5 at home in the Premier League.

Arsenal looked to be on their way to maximum points when they took the lead at home against Sheffield United on Saturday. However, they couldn't hold on and conceded an equaliser in the 83rd minute. It was the second game in succession that Arsenal have taken the lead but failed to hold on to the advantage having previously drawn 1-1 at Crystal Palace.

Trends show Arsenal have won only one of their last 7 Premier League matches and just 2 of their last 15, which is a poor record. However, The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 5 away Premier League games including a win at West Ham United. Each of the other 4 matches all ended in a draw at Norwich City, Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Of their 20 most recent all competitions games, Arsenal have seen 15 in which both teams scored.

Team news and Chelsea are still without Christian Pulisic due to a groin injury. Marcos Alonso, Marco Van Ginkel and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all doubts.

Arsenal continue without the suspended Pierre Emerick Aubameyang which is a blow. Calum Chambers and Kieran Tierney are injured plus there is a doubt over the fitness of Sead Kolasinac.

This should be a very good game to watch with both teams finding the back of the net. However, Chelsea appear to be in a better place than Arsenal right now, despite their loss at Newcastle on the weekend and could come through to win this game.
