Moyes Takes Charge at West Ham for Bournemouth Match
2515

West Ham United will face Bournemouth in the Premier League on New Year's Day with a new man in charge of the team.

David Moyes has been appointed the new manager of West Ham following the sacking of Manuel Pellegrini. The Scot returns for a second spell in charge of the Hammers having previously lasted only six months and 31 games.

His job will be to try and move West Ham away from the relegation zone and they begin the New Year's Day fixtures just one point clear of the bottom three. Bournemouth also have plenty of work to do if they want to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle in the second half of the season. The Cherries are just 1 point above the hosts.

West Ham come into the game having lost 2-1 at home against Leicester City on the weekend. Considering the away team made several changes to their starting XI, West Ham would have hoped to get something from the match. That result means West Ham have lost 4 of their last 5 Premier League games and have won only 2 of their last 13 in the league.

Trends show West Ham have suffered 4 consecutive defeats at home in the Premier League. In addition to the defeat by Leicester City, West Ham have also lost at home against Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Both teams have scored in each of West Ham's last 6 home games and the Hammers have scored at least one goal in their last 8 consecutive home games in the Premier League.

Bournemouth travel to London having lost 2-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. It was another disappointing defeat and performance for Eddie Howe’s team and that result means they have won only one of their last 9 Premier League matches. The victory was a good 1-0 win at Chelsea but since then Bournemouth have lost against Burnley at home and Brighton away.

Trends show Bournemouth have lost in 7 of their last 9 all competitions matches and have failed to score a goal in 4 of their last 6 Premier League games. Bournemouth have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 away Premier League matches.

Looking ahead to the team news and it will be interesting to see if Moyes makes many changes to the West Ham starting XI from the weekend. However, Jack Wilshere could be unavailable due to a groin problem.

Bournemouth continue without the injured trio of Charlie Daniels, David Brooks and Nathan Aké. Adam Smith, Arnaut Groeneveld, Lloyd Kelly and Simon Francis are doubtful.

This is an extremely tough match to call as West Ham and Bournemouth are struggling to pick up good results. Expect to see both teams find the back of the net and with the recent upheaval at West Ham, it could be Bournemouth who come away with the points.
