There are several fixtures to look forward to in the traditional Boxing Day Premier League fixture list. One of which takes place at Goodison Park as Everton entertain Burnley in one of the 3pm kick-offs. This will be the first match for Carlo Ancelotti as he takes control of Everton having watched from the stands on the weekend.

The Italian manager will be hoping to move Everton clear of the relegation zone by winning this match and begin a push into the top half of the table. However, Sean Dyche will have other ideas and his Burnley team come into this match 5 points clear of their opponents.

Everton played Arsenal in the early kick off on Saturday and were held to a 0-0 draw. It was a disappointing match with very few goal scoring chances and Ancelotti will be hoping he can produce a better range of attacking football. Trends show Everton have won just one of their last 7 games in all competitions and have been in poor form.

However, the Toffees are undefeated in their last 3 Premier League games, winning one and drawing 2 of those matches. The victory came at home over Chelsea which was a good result and Everton have lost only one of their last 5 home Premier League games.

Only once in their last 5 Premier League matches at home have Everton seen over 2.5 goals scored. However, they have managed to keep only one clean sheet in their last 4 but that did come in the previous match against Arsenal.

Burnley make the trip to Goodison Park having come away with a good 1-0 win at Bournemouth on the weekend. The Clarets were seemingly heading for a 0-0 draw before substitute Jay Rodriguez scored the winning goal in the 89th minute. That result means Burnley have won each other last 2 Premier League matches, with the other victory coming at home against Newcastle United via the same score-line.

The last 2 results have come as a boost for Burnley who previously suffered 3 straight defeats in the Premier League. Conceding goals had been a problem as Burnley conceded 2 goals at home against Crystal Palace, 4 goals at home against Chelsea and 5 goals away against Tottenham Hotspur. However, they have since kept two clean sheets.

Trends show Burnley have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 away Premier League games.

Looking ahead to the team news and Everton are still without the injured Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Morgan Schneiderlin and Theo Walcott. Alex Iwobi left the pitch on the weekend with a hamstring Injury and is a doubt.

Burnley have just one injury problem and defender Ben Gibson is doubtful. Jay Rodriguez is pushing for a place in the starting XI following his winning goal on the weekend.

It will be interesting to see if Ancelotti can have any impact on the Everton team in such a short space of time. Burnley have improved defensively in recent games and we could see under 2.5 goals in this match. However, Everton must be the favourites to take maximum points with home advantage.
