Brighton and Sheff Utd heading for entertaining draw
Brighton vs Sheffield United - 21/12/2019
2449
Brighton & Hove Albion host Sheffield United on Saturday with both sides in good form. The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last three league games, while the Blades have won their last two.
Following three straight defeats, Graham Potter’s men returned to winning ways by beating Arsenal. Brighton then picked up an impressive away draw with Wolves, before sharing the spoils with Crystal Palace last time out.
Brighton completely dominated Palace in the first half and Neal Maupay gave them a deserved lead early in the second half. However, the home side snatched a draw late on.
Despite dropping points in their previous game, Potter will be very pleased with his team’s performance.
Back-to-back victories have seen Sheff Utd keep pace with the top-four. The Blades are currently seventh, level on 25 points with Manchester United and four points behind fourth-place Chelsea.
Sheff Utd have done remarkably well following promotion from the Championship last season, and Chris Wilder’s side continue to impress.
Only the division’s top two teams – Liverpool and Leicester – have conceded fewer goals than Sheff Utd in England’s top-flight.
Sheff Utd’s home form has been solid, but they have been even more impressive away from home. They are yet to taste defeat on the road this season, so this doesn’t bode well for Brighton.
However, the Seagulls have picked up the majority of their points at the Amex this term – losing just two of their eight home games in the league in 2019/20.
Brighton have no fresh injury worries heading into this clash. Aaron Connolly could return from injury this weekend, but Solly March remains absent with a groin strain.
As for Sheff Utd, John Fleck is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards this season. Fleck scored both his team’s goals last weekend, so he’ll be a big miss.
This will be the first ever top-flight meeting between Brighton and Sheff Utd. The two teams last met in the second-tier in 2006, with the Blades winning 3-1 on that occasion.
Still, the overall head-to-head record in the fixture is relatively even, and it’s set to be a close game this time around.
Both teams have scored 21 goals in 17 league games this season, so we’re likely to see goals at both ends on Saturday.
Forebet predicts that both sides will score more than once. However, a draw seems like the most probable outcome.
