The standout clash from the upcoming round of Premier League fixtures undoubtedly takes place at the Etihad Stadium, as Manchester City host fierce rivals Manchester United on Saturday. Form often goes out the window when these two teams meet, so it’s set to be a thrilling encounter.

Man City come into this game on the back of a comprehensive 4-1 win over Burnley. A Gabriel Jesus brace was added to by Rodri and Riyad Mahrez, as Pep Guardiola’s side ran riot at Turf Moor.

However, a shock 2-2 draw with Newcastle the week before has left Man City with some serious work to do if they are to chase down Liverpool. City are currently third and trail the Reds by eleven points, while many people believe the title race is already over.

Still, while City have not been at their best, Guardiola will be confident that his team can keep the pressure of the league-leaders. We are not even halfway through the season, so a lot can change between now and May.

As for Manchester United, they have moved up to sixth following a well-earned win over Tottenham. Marcus Rashford netted twice as the Red Devils got the better of their former boss, and the England forward has now scored 12 goals in his last 13 appearances for club and country.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are unbeaten in their last four league games, but a trip to the Etihad could put an end to their impressive run of form.

City won both Manchester derbies last season. A 3-1 home victory was followed by a 2-0 win at Old Trafford, but the recent head-to-head record between the two teams is fairly even. Both sides have won four of the last ten meetings, with the other two games ending level.

United could be boosted by the return of Paul Pogba this weekend. The enigmatic midfielder has spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, but the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred have been performing well in the middle of the park.

Sergio Aguero remains unavailable for selection for Guardiola as the Argentine continues to recover from a thigh problem. However, after scoring twice in midweek, Gabriel Jesus has proven that he is a more than capable replacement.

Man City have conceded in each of their last five league games, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Man Utd got on the scoresheet on Saturday.

However, Forebet predicts that the home side shouldn’t find it too difficult to overcome their cross-city neighbours.
