High-flying Liverpool unlikely to be troubled by struggling Bournemouth
2516

Bournemouth are the next team tasked with trying to put an end to Liverpool’s remarkable unbeaten run this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side appear to be unstoppable at the moment, so the Cherries will need to be at the top of their game if they are to get the better of the Reds.

Unfortunately for Eddie Howe – and the rest of the Premier League – Bournemouth come into this game on a wretched run of form. Four straight defeats have seen the south coast side slip to twelfth in the table – two points clear of the relegation zone.

Bournemouth’s most recent defeat came at the hands of Crystal Palace. Despite dominating large spells of the game, Howe’s men were beaten 1-0.

Newcastle, Wolves and Tottenham all beat Bournemouth in November, with the Cherries’ last victory coming against Manchester United all the way back on Matchday 11.

As we head into Matchday 16, Bournemouth will be desperate to return to winning ways. However, they couldn’t be facing a tougher opponent at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Fresh from a 5-2 derby hammering over Everton, Liverpool’s march towards their first ever Premier League triumph goes on. A Divock Origi double, along with goals from Xherdan Shaqiri, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, saw the Reds breeze past their bitter rivals in midweek.

The Reds remain eight points clear of second-place Leicester City, having won 14 of their 15 league games this term. As things stand, it’s going to take something extraordinary to derail Liverpool’s title push.

Klopp rang the changes on Wednesday. Star forwards Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah both started on the bench against the Toffees, but their understudies deputised admirably.

Joel Matip remains unavailable for selection due to a knee injury, but Klopp is again expected to make full use of his squad on Saturday as Liverpool enter a packed run of fixtures.

As for Bournemouth, Junior Stanislas, Andrew Surman, Lloyd Kelly and Joshua King are all expected to return to first-team action soon. But Charlie Daniels, David Brooks, Steve Cook and Adam Smith remain long-term absentees.

The Cherries sole victory over Liverpool came back in 2016, while the Reds have beaten Bournemouth convincingly in recent games. Bournemouth have failed to score against Liverpool in their last four meetings, while Klopp’s side have scored 14 goals without reply in that time.

This trend looks set to continue on Saturday. Bournemouth are on a poor run, so Liverpool’s free-scoring streak isn’t likely to be stopped by the Cherries.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory. A rare clean sheet could also be on the cards.
