Nottingham Forest to avoid defeat at QPR
2558

QPR suffered a third defeat in four matches on Friday night when they lost 2-1 away from home at London rivals, Fulham, and they face a tricky encounter against high-flying Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night despite being back at Loftus Road.

Earlier defeats to Brentford 3-1 and Leeds United 2-0 along with draws against lowly Reading and Middlesbrough mean that Mark Warburton’s QPR outfit have now endured a 5-match sequence without a win in the Championship, but he’ll no doubt be keen to put one over one of his former clubs in this clash.

Having recorded just 1 win out of their last 5 matches at Loftus Road though, this may be easier said than done as The R’s only have a 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers to show for their efforts in recent times on home turf.

Despite an encouraging start to their season at home with wins against Wigan Athletic and Luton Town, in truth, QPR have struggled against the stronger teams in the division.

This has been evident in recent defeats at home to Championship leaders West Brom and 8th placed Brentford.

Nottingham Forest seem to have recovered from their mini-slump a short while ago as the visitors have registered recent back-to-back wins against Luton Town and east midlands arch-rivals, Derby County as well as a solid point in a 0-0 draw away at 7th placed Bristol City on Saturday.

Back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City had threatened to undo Nottingham Forest’s good work earlier in the season which saw Forest put together an impressive 10-match unbeaten run in the Championship, but the visitors have responded in positive fashion and now occupy 5th place in the second tier.

Nottingham Forest have also performed well on their travels so far this season which will be a refreshing change for players and fans alike as Forest’s exploits on their travels were so often their achilles heel in previous campaigns.

Sabri Lamouche’s side have lost just 1 of their 9 away matches so far this season and have collected wins at Fulham, Swansea City, Stoke City and Luton Town, so they’ll be confident that they can get at least a point at Loftus Road on Wednesday night.
