Sevilla could go top of La Liga with a win and results going their way elsewhere. Manager Julen Lopetegui has led his team to 24 points from 39 possible and a La Liga title could be in Sevilla’s future.

The Andalusian club will need to be consistent as the season wears on, something they have not always been when showing signs of being title contenders.

Real Valladolid are 13th in the La Liga table on 17 points from 39 possible. Eight points separate Real Valladolid from the relegation zone and manager Sergio has made the team difficult to beat this season.

The purple and white fought relegation last term finishing 16th. Their start this season could lead to a midtable finish although just three points separate Real Valladolid from the top six in La Liga.

Lopetegui takes his Sevilla team to Valladolid having racked up a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions. Sevilla have posted 17 goals while conceding just 14 times.

Sevilla have posted the best points total on the road this term with 13 taken from 21 possible. Lopetegui’s team has posted a zero-goal difference as goals have been scored at both ends. Sevilla are unbeaten in their last two away games with a draw against Valencia 1-1 and a 2-1 win over Real Betis.

Real Valladolid’s home form is slightly misleading.  Sergio’s side has taken nine points from 15 possible and have not lost at the Jose Zorilla Stadium this term. Real Valladolid have won back to back home matches over Eibar and Mallorca keeping clean sheets in both matches.

Sevilla will have a difficult time in Valladolid on Sunday night but it isn’t impossible for them to get a win away from home. Forward Lucas Ocampos has bagged five goals this term and is the 10th leading scorer in La Liga after 13 games.

Ocampos is Sevilla’s most in-form player and continues to receive praise. The forward has made an excellent duo with veteran Sevilla player Jesus Navas and the pair could ravage Real Valladolid’s defence.

Sevilla are unbeaten in their last five matches against Real Valladolid. Last season saw the two Spanish teams play for the first time since 2014 due to Real Valladolid playing in the Segunda. Sevilla took all six points last term with a 1-0 win at home and a 2-0 win away.

Sunday’s fixture won’t see Sevilla keep a clean sheet this time. They will win but Real Valladolid will get on the score sheet. The teams should put on a show as over 2.5 goals are scored and both teams find the back of the net as Sevilla are victorious.
