Watford to continue renaissance against Burnley
2645

Watford have suddenly come to life in the Premier League. Quique Sanchez Flores team has some fight in it and could still pull itself out of the bottom three.

The Hornets are unbeaten in four of their last five league games with six points from 15 taken. Flores led Watford to a league win prior to the international break courtesy of a 2-0 away victory against Norwich City.

Burnley ended a three-match losing streak prior to the international break. The Clarets had looked ragged dropping three consecutive fixtures in which they managed just 1.0 goals per game. Their 3-0 win over West Ham has kept them in midtable and just three points above the top five.

Watford are unbeaten in eight of their last 12 matches against Burnley in all competitions. The Hornets took four points from six last season with a 3-1 win at Turf Moor before drawing nil-nil at Vicarage Road.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has three injury issues with all three players undergoing late fitness tests. Johann Berg Gudmundsson is working his way back from a thigh strain. He could make the team if passed fit by the team’s physio.

Danny Drinkwater and Matej Vydra are both to undergo a fitness test with the likelihood of being passed. Drinkwater has played just once all season and that came in the Carabao Cup.

Flores has seen plenty of injuries at Vicarage Road this term. Those have not gone away with Burnley heading to town. Tom Cleverly, Roberto Pereyra, Domingos Quina, Sebastian Prodl, and Ismaila Sarr are all listed as potentially in the mix to play on Saturday.

Watford will be without Daniel Bachmann, Danny Welbeck, and Christian Kabasele due to injuries and suspension. The club does have captain Troy Deeney back from injury and he could play a part in the match.

The Hornets have not won at home this season and only taken three points courtesy of three draws. Their last fixture against Chelsea ended 2-1 in favour of the Blues.

Burnley have not won on the road and only have three points to show for their travels. Dyche’s side has made their mark at home but struggles on the road have kept them stuck in midtable. The Clarets have conceded 11 goals on their travels.

Watford should pick up another draw at home at the weekend against Burnley. The two teams are evenly matched and a stalemate is likely at Vicarage Road.
