Albania have not endured a terrible Euro 2020 qualifying campaign and if they were in most other groups, they would still have a chance of making next years tournament. However, they are in group H, which not only contains Turkey and France but also Iceland.
Albania have acquired 12 points so far from their eight group games, but are trailing Turkey and France in first and second respectively by seven points, which means they can no longer qualify for the tournament.
With the play-offs decided by teams Nations League results, rather than who finishes third in a group, they will not qualify for Euro 2020.
However, Albania will be looking to accrue as many points as possible and a Thursday night encounter with Andorra at home is the perfect chance to move to 15 points in the group.
The home sides recent record in qualifying for the European Championships could not be more inconsistent, as they have won four and lost four of their last eight outings in the competition. Defeats against the top three in the group have cost them a chance of qualification.
Albania have a poor recent home record in qualifying for the European Championships, as they have won just three of their last nine home qualifiers. However, they have won two straight home games in qualifying against Moldova and last time Iceland.
Andorra have experienced their bog-standard qualification campaign of losing matches. However, they did manage to beat Moldova and are currently not bottom of the group, which in a small way is a positive.
The victory over Moldova is the only time the visitors have avoided defeat in their 58 European Championship qualifiers. However, it seems unlikely that they will repeat the trick in Albania.
