Boavista and Tondela set for a draw

Two teams who have made mixed starts to the new Portuguese Primeira Liga campaign meet on Friday night, as Boavista host Tondela at the Estadio do Bessa Seculo XXI.

There has been very little between the two teams so far in the Primeira Liga, as Boavista have picked up ten points, while the visitors have picked up just two less. However, a win for either would be enough to move them into the European qualification spots.

Boavista have made an unbeaten start to their Primeira campaign and are undefeated in ten league matches dating back to April. However, the home side has been draw specialists of late, as four of their last five league games have finished all-square.

There is a low-scoring trend in Bovista’s recent matches, in that their last five Primeira Liga games have produced under 2.5 goals.

They do have a good recent home record, though, as they are unbeaten in seven matches on home soil, having recorded five wins in the process.

Tondela have made an inconsistent start to their Primeira Liga campaign. Last time out the visitors suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Vitoria Guimaraes. The defeat ended a promising three-game unbeaten run in the Portuguese top-flight.

The visitors recent Primeira Liga matches have served up great entertainment, as four of their last five league outings have produced over 2.5 goals. The fact that Tondela have conceded at least two goals in four of those high-scoring games has been a big factor in the high goal tally.

Tondela are unbeaten in four away matches in the Portuguese top-flight, including recording back-to-back victories over Maritimo and Rio Ave. However, the two latest wins are Tondela’s only away wins in 13 matches in the Primeira Liga.

There has been very little between these teams in recent seasons. Therefore, it is not surprising that Forebet predicts that this game will end in a low-scoring draw.
